Unusual noncontractile motion in vivo within the fibers growing on cotton ovules was found for four cotton genotypes. Structural investigations have shown that, in addition to the active motion related to fiber cell growth, a simultaneous spiral rotation of the cytoplasmic membrane occurs. Due to translational growth of the fiber cell apices and spiral rotation of plasmalemma, the fibers of cotton cultivars take on a twisted, corkscrew-like external shape. Optical microphotos illustrate the formation process of the fiber cell wall at different stages of growth and noncontractile motion in cotton fiber cells.  相似文献

Recently, zeolite membranes on porous supports have been extensively studied in the ethanol–water separation process for further use for gasohol production. This work focuses on a NaA membrane synthesized on an α‐Al2O3 support via microwave hydrothermal treatment. Synthesis temperature and time, type of substrate, seed amount and seeding time for the layer growth of the membrane are considered. The formation of as‐synthesized membranes is discussed according to observations by SEM and XRD. In addition, a preliminary study of the performance of the synthesized NaA zeolite membrane was conducted using the pervaporation technique. It was found that, for the synthesized continuous NaA membranes prepared using a 0.5 µm NaA crystal seed concentration of 3 g/l via vacuum seeding, the optimum conditions were 363 K synthesis temperature for 15–20 min via microwave heating. The flux and the separation factor obtained were 1.6 kg/m2 h and 1760.5, respectively, for the substrate without an intermediate layer. Interestingly, the substrate with an intermediate layer showed better flux and separation factor at 1.7 kg/m2 h and 6532.7, respectively. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Model representations of the nonstationary processes caused by the nonstationary electrolysis regimes on three-dimensional flow electrodes (TFEs) were developed. A change in the electrode and electrolyte parameters with time was taken into account. As an illustration of the efficiency of a model of two-dimensional electrochemical system, co-electrodeposition of two metals with hydrogen evolution on TFE was considered for the case of mutually perpendicular directions of current and electrolyte flow.  相似文献

The rotational spectrum of epifluorohydrin measured by chirped-pulse Fourier transform microwave (CP-FTMW) spectroscopy is presented. A new CP-FTMW spectrometer capable of measuring the entire 7.5-18.5 GHz spectrum with a single polarizing pulse is described briefly. The CP-FTMW spectrometer takes advantage of recent advances in digital electronics by utilizing a 4.2 GS/s arbitrary waveform generator as a frequency source and a 12 GHz digital oscilloscope to digitize the down converted molecular free induction decay (FID). Signal averaging in the time domain is used to increase the signal-to-noise ratio. The rotational constants of three unique conformers of epifluorohydrin were measured, as well as the rotational constants of the three unique 13C isotopomers and the 18O isotopomer (in natural abundance) of the most stable conformer. The rotational constants of the two less stable conformers differ significantly from those previously reported [F.G. Fujiwara, J.L. Painter, H. Kim, J. Mol. Struct. 41 (1977) 169-175]. Ab initio calculations were performed for all three conformations and are compared to experimental values.  相似文献

??In this paper, we consider a perturbed compound Poisson risk model with dependence, where the dependence structure for the claim size and the inter-claim time is modeled by a generalized Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern copula. The integro equations, the Laplace transforms and the defective renewal equations for the Gerber-Shiu functions are obtained. The process of casting occupies an important place in the metallurgical industry, and the entire world of the metal user. In the past, the ingot casting–rolling (slabbing, blooming, or billeting) process was commonly used. The continuous casting process has largely replaced this earlier method because of the inherent advantages of energy savings, enhanced productivity, higher yield and reduced costs. However, continuous casting process is not without of its problems. Considerable effort has been made by many researches to establish adequate design, operation and maintenance of continuous casting machine to ensure metallurgical quality of the final product. One of the most severe defects in continuous casting products is concerned with the cracks provoked by improper design of the spray cooling system. The aim of this work is to develop a two dimensional heat transfer model based on the finite difference method in order to calculate the strand temperatures and the solid shell profile along the machine. An Artificial Intelligence heuristic search procedure interacts with the numerical model to determine the improved cooling conditions for the sprays zones of a real continuous caster for the production of quality billets.  相似文献

The influence of para‐, ortho‐, and meta‐phenylenediamine (p‐, o‐, and m‐PDA) additions on the electrochemical synthesis of polyaniline has been investigated by the use of cyclic voltametry. It has been found that small additions (1 and 5 mmol L?1) of PDA monomers influence significantly the polymerization rate. Whereas p‐PDA increases the polymerization rate, the addition of o‐ or m‐PDA slows it down. Therefore, a different number of potential cycling is necessary to obtain similar thickness of layers. The layers exhibit very different morphology, which changes from “spaghetti‐like” for polyaniline to “sponge‐like” for p‐PDA, to “pebble‐like” for o‐PDA and to “cauliflower‐like” for m‐PDA additions, respectively. The catalytic effect of the synthesized polymer layers has been tested. It has been found that all the layers exhibit catalytic effect in lowering the redox potential of hydroquinone/quinone tested reaction, but the rate of the electrocatalytic reaction varies depending on the PDA monomer added. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
